A couple of years ago, it was rumored that the Denver Nuggets were willing to trade Carmello Anthony to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum straight up but Jim Buss wouldn't pull the trigger because he was a big believer in Bynum's upside. I said then that the day would come when the Lakers would regret not making that deal and here we are DING DING DING. Phil Jackson is about to take a job as president of the Knicks for, get this $15 million a year and part of his accepting the position is that Carmello stays in New York. Let's not forget that Jeannie Buss is still engaged to Phil. That should make for an interesting Thanksgiving Dinner next year. Someone should try to get the reality tv rights to that. Hey, speaking of the Lakers, Kobe has been shut down for the rest of the year. I truly believe that we have seen him play his last effective games as a player. He will never average anywhere close to 20 points a season again. In my opinion he has a better chance of winning a game of Keno.
I was thinking about doing a big detailed explanation of my pre season picks for the MLB season for it would have been pretty boring unless you follow all 32 teams so here goes the cliff notes version.
Braves win the NL east, Cardinals the Central, Dodgers the West, wild card will be the Reds. Cardinals go back to world series and win it this year. They are the best team and the nest run organization in all of MLB. Their farm team would beat about half the teams in the league.
In the AL, anyone who thinks the Angels rebound is crazy. If I'm Mike Scocia, I'm getting my resume ready. Pujols is as done as brisket on the 4th of July. Their pitching is so suspect once you get past Weaver, Interpol is looking into their possibility into being involved in the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370. A's are the team to beat in this division and I predict it won't be close. If you think the Rangers are going to be back on top, look for Ian Kinsler's recent comments about the front office and keep in mind that Nolan Ryan thought the situation in Arlington was bad enough that he went to the Astros. The Astros who won't have a winning record this decade.
AL Central- Tigers win the division-- again--yawn. Indians over achieved last year, this year they play 500 ball. Everyone in else in this division stinks like the inside of an elevator at the world's largest taco bell.
Al East - here's where things get interesting. Well, sort of. Red Sox win the division, Orioles did not improve in the off season enough to catch the Sox, the Yankees may actually have players using a huvaraound to assist them getting on and off the field this year. It wouldn't surprise me. The Blue Jays are going to be regretting last years off season for at least 4 more years. MacGyver couldn't fix that roster.
I do think the Tigers will be facing the Cardinals in the fall classic and I've already said the Cards will win.
